Consultations With Starr

I have designed three consultations to meet the needs of the writer in every stage of developing their book. When the consult takes place, it is recommended that you record it so you can refer back to it again and again for reference purposes. It is further suggested that you prepare a list of questions to ask during the interview. I can interview you over the phone or in person. The consult fee is $100 per hour and can be paid by credit card, check or cash. Our menu is listed below.

Consultation # 1:

Plans to start and/or complete your book

If you have a book in you but don’t know where or how to begin, I will custom fit a writing schedule and an easily applicable method for you to complete your book quickly and efficiently. I work within your personal time allotment, other appointments you may have and daily responsibilities. Time management will prove to be one of the most beneficial factors in accomplishing your goal. For many years, Bob & I taught this course to many employees to help them achieve their objectives.

Practical instructions will be given on each section of your book such as (but not limited to) your Title Verso page, endorsements, acknowledgments, table of contents, index and glossary. A plan to stimulate you to action will be put into motion to obtain your sales tax permit and your ISBN#’s.

Consultation # 2:

Instructions on formatting and/or printing your book

This consult would be appropriate for you if you have finished writing your book and need guidance on how to format it to make it copy ready for the printer. Covered in this segment are: setting up your computer to format your book properly, book size, inside art and graphics, page layout, paper and packaging information, hardcover vs. softcover, the book’s spine design and how to intelligently deal with the printer.

Consultation # 3:

Publicizing & Promoting Your Book

Even with the most riveting content and eye–catching cover design, you won’t experience many book sales without an aggressive publicity plan ready to execute a month before your book is in your hands. I will take you through each and every step necessary to make your name and book known.

Included in this consult is:

1. Your publicity photos
2. Finding the appropriate distributor
3. How to talk to bookstores to get them to accept your book and to invite you to hold book–signings
4. Who to talk to so you can do television and radio interviews
5. Designing your press kits, media flyers and news releases
6. Writing your promotion plan sheet
7. Formulating your speeches for each specific group
8. Website design
9. Developing your business cards, stationary, and brochures
10. Making a financial plan
11. Submitting your articles for newspapers
12. On and off line publications and magazines
13. How to create hearty email lists and groups
